Kaya & Gabriel’s Elopement
Serendipity.
I met Kaya and Gabriel during Somerville Open Studios, an annual event where artists in Somerville, Massachusetts set up outside their residences or studios to share and sell their art. I was set up for the day selling prints and greeting cards of my nature photography, and I was just about to pack up at the end of the event when Kaya and Gabriel made a last minute stop. After chatting for a couple minutes, they asked me if I wanted to photograph their elopement in a few weeks!
This post’s existence makes it quite obvious that I said I’d love to. However, I was very clear that I had never photographed an elopement or wedding before. After further discussion, we learned we had a lot in common. Kaya and I are both teachers, their elopement was taking place in one of my favorite places in Boston, and I actually knew one of their guests. (There were only a few, so this did in fact feel significant.)
To make a long story short, everything about this day just fell into place, and it was such a lovely and intimate ceremony, with a joyous dinner reception after. Thank you, Kaya and Gabriel, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to capture your special day!
“Thank you for the photos. We love them! You were absolutely wonderful and really helped to make the day feel even more special.”
